This past Saturday Kaitlyn learned how to mow the lawn. We got a few days of good rain last week, so the grass turned green and very thick, fast. Not wanting to let her brother earn all the money she gave it a shot.
It was a pretty hot day and it shows on her face! She was hot and tired.
She did a really good job and will not need the supervision as long as Scott did. She will have to do it with us with her maybe once more, but she really handled the mower very well.
I am sure the neighbors will be so glad once they both get the hang of going in a straight line. We usually have to go back and try to clean up the lot lines, but that can be challenging. The kids are sure growing up!

McCain Rally in Cedarburg
At 11am they emerged from their bus and were received by thousands. How amazing it was to see them! My first political rally was worth the wait.
Not! That is a photo from one of the news websites. We were so far back I think I saw McCain's forehead and hand. Carl saw his hair! This is the overflow crowd they did not expect. There were hundreds of people still in line to go through security that were turned away when they started talking. We were among the last few let in. We were behind the bleachers for the traveling press. Hey! I traveled from Jackson and I had a camera! What's up with that!
If you look really close you can see Cindy McCain just to the right of the camera man on the right. She was wearing a black dress with a white sweater. What a view!
No really it was a fun time and we were glad to be a part of history. It sure has energized our support and has gotten us more willing to be active supporters for McCain and Palin. Please vote in November!

HAPPY 94th BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!
Tuesday September 2nd was my Grandma D's 94th birthday. We had 2 celebrations for her, one on Sunday and one on Tuesday. Both times we went to dinner at the Olive Garden and enjoyed good company and conversation. She got many gifts and was tickled pink to get her first Harley Davidson shirt. She enjoyed seeing Aunt Suzi, Uncle Marv, Roberta, Mom, Gma S., Billy and the kids. It was a great day and she is doing quite well getting around. Here are a few pictures from both get togethers.
Grandma and Aunt Suzi
Here is Grandma and her best friend and Sister in-law Aunt Kit.
Grandma and Roberta
Scott took a good picture, this is Gma S., Billy, Gma D., Mom and me. Billy and Gma DeglmanThe picture is blurry, but this was taken seconds before the rough housing tipped over Gmas coffee table. It is all fun until something gets broke! This is one of 3 pictures taken of Grandma and I, every one is blurry! Oh well, this is me and my Thursday Grandma (as many know her). Happy Birthday! I love you!Posted by Amy at 6:11 PM 0 comments
First Week of School
Well, we just finished the first week of school. For the first time I was not looking forward to school starting. Life has really changed since Dad is gone and a quiet house is what I have been dreading. Couple that with the nerves and worries about them starting another year, I am glad to report they (and I) survived the first week! Scott started 5th grade and is excited about his new teacher and seeing his friends again. Kaitlyn began 6th grade in a new school. She has adjusted well and says she is finding her way around quite well.
She is taking the bus for the first time. It requires an early wake up time which she and I hate, and does not get her home until 4:30 pm. She has about 4 friends on the bus with her which helps. Here she is leaving on the first day, Carl walked her part way to the stop. I have never been more nervous for her, but she did well.

Happy Birthday To You...
Yesterday my little brother turned 36 years old! He has been in town for Harley Davidson's 105 year Anniversary so we were all able to get together on his birthday (which was also Labor Day this year). We had a grill out and spent the afternoon gabbing. Here is Billy with our Grandma Sullivan. She hates having her picture taken, but she looks so good!
Here he is, 36 candles. Scott was giving him a hard time about how many girlfriends he would have (the number of candles left lit when you blow them out), and Billy said "there are NO girlfriends!"
Sure enough, after the smoke cleared there were no candles left lit and Billy sat back and smiled. I kid you not the kitchen was full of smoke. It was funny...although not as funny as my mom when she ate the black frosting from the cake! Isn't she beautiful!
She wanted the cake donned in Harley colors, we all hope her teeth clean up or she may need to Zoom!

Flood Clean Up
After the Packer game Carl and Kaitlyn stayed in Fond du Lac at the Meyers. Friday Carl helped his dad work on their basement. It was flooded during the storms that came through in June. They are doing all the work themselves and progress is being made.
It is amazing how much damage can be done with only a few inches of water. Hopefully all will be completed soon and the stress over. Hang in there guys! We love you!

GOOO PACKERS!
Thursday night August 28th Kaitlyn and Carl went up to Green Bay to watch the Packers play the Tennessee Titans.
Out for some fresh air before the game...Smile!
Hello Carl
Oohh look! They even spotted some friends at the game. Everyone had a great time even though we lost a close one. As Carl always says, "they clinched defeat from the jaws of victory"! This may be a tough year for us die hard Packer fans, but we will survive! Go Green And Gold!
